PAUL CARTLEDGE

Paul Anthony Cartledge is the first A.G. Leventis Professor of Greek Culture at Cambridge University, having previously held a personal chair in Greek History at Cambridge. He is also Hellenic Parliament Global Distinguished Professor in the History and Theory of Democracy at New York University. He written and edited over 20 books, many of which have been translated into foreign languages. He is an honorary citizen of modern Sparta and holds the Gold Cross of the Order of Honor awarded by the President of Greece.

N.G.L. HAMMOND

Nicholas Geoffrey Lemprière Hammond CBE, DSO (15 November 1907 – 24 March 2001) was a British scholar of ancient Greece of great accomplishment and an operative for the British Special Operations Executive (SOE) in occupied Greece during World War II. His scholarship focused on the history of ancient Macedonia and Epirus.

AXEL SOTIRIS WALLDEN

Axel Sotiris Walldén has held a series of posts in the European Commission: in the Western Balkans Directorate (2005-2006), Task Force Wider Europe (2003-2004), Bulgaria team (1998-2000), Enlargement team preparing ‘Agenda 2000’
(1996-1997). In 2000-03 he served as Counsellor to the Greek Foreign Minister of Balkan Affairs, on secondment from the European Commission, and was coordinator of the Thessaloniki Balkan summit.

Previously he served, inter alia, as Secretary-General at the Hellenic Ministry of National Economy (1989-90) and as a visiting professor at the Panteion University, Athens (1990-92). He teaches postgraduate courses at the Institut d’Etudes Européennes of the Université Libre de Bruxelles.
 
He is the author of 12 books and a large number of articles in scientific reviews and journals on Balkan, EU enlargement and Greek foreign policy issues.
