| Up until 1914, Monastiri (today known as Bitola) had an extremely large and vibrant Greek population prior to the city being ceded to Yugoslavia (today a city in the FYROM) after the end of the Balkan Wars 1912-1913. In the video, a Greek tour group visits the now abandoned historic Greek Consulate building. It is currently against the law to self-identify as Greek in the FYROM and are forced to list their ethnicity on the national census as "Macedonian" or "other." |
